Highway bandits slapped with several charges

Two men who were allegedly part of a gang that reigned terror on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway were yesterday remanded to prison by acting Chief Magistrate Cecil Sullivan.

Michael Taylor, 28, of lot 156 One Mile and of 78 First Alley, Wismar, and Nigel Kissoon, 33, of 89 First Alley, were jointly charged for robbery under arms committed on Peter Dowridge and others. They were also charged for wrongful restraint for ransom.

The offences were allegedly committed on July 18 last.

Taylor was separately charged for indecent assault and indecent act, while Kissoon had charges of indecent act, buggery and attempted buggery instituted against him.

They will both appear at the Christiansburg Magistrate's Court on August 9 for a further hearing.
