Julius Branker, 29, of Blue Berry Hill Squatting Area was not required to plead to a charge of burglary.

It is alleged that on the night of May 29 at Canvas City, Wismar, Linden he broke and entered the dwelling house of a woman with intent to commit rape. In a press statement, police said that around 4 am on the day in question a man broke into the home of a woman at Canvas City, Wismar and stabbed the woman on both legs.

The 22-year-old woman was in her home sleeping when she felt liquid being spilled on her legs, (where on her legs?) the police said. She woke up and saw the suspect, a scuffle ensued and the man stabbed her on both legs. The woman raised an alarm and the suspect fled the home. Police responded to the report and around 6.10 am arrested the suspect at Blue Berry Hill Squatting Area.

Attorney at law Adrian Thompson represented Branker and told the court that his client is a father of two who works at the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) in Linden. The attorney said that his client was brutalized by the police and had numerous marks of violence about his body.

The magistrate remanded Branker and transferred his case to the Christianburg Magistrate's court for June 26.
